It’s been a little over a week since my last blog entry and I have so much to write about. I therefore make a decree that from this day forward I will only blog on Sundays.

Okay, so I should probably get to it. My first instinct is to write a quick review for the movie, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, and guess what..? I’m going to follow that instinct.

First off, let me say, I’ve read many a bad review on this film, and I just don’t get it. I actually thought it was a pretty good movie. Definitely cheesy, but it’s what I expected; your typical summer popcorn flick. Quickly, I’ll jot down what I perceived as flaws within the film. First, there wasn’t much depth behind the human characters. All the conflict was external. I can see where the filmmakers attempted to throw a subplot in about how neither Sam nor Mikaela could say, “I love you.” It didn’t work. It wasn’t real. It becomes pretty obvious throughout the movie that the refusal to say these three words lie less with insecurity about their feelings for each other and more with the fact that neither wants to say it first. This basically leaves you with, for all intents and purposes; a high-octane “brainless” action film, which is exactly what you should go in expecting to see, and nothing more. My only other real gripe was the amount of comedy in the film. Way more than I thought necessary. I mean, every character ended up being a comic foil. Its more action-comedy than plain action. Overall though, I can’t really complain. Yes, there were moments where I wondered if I’d missed a scene somewhere. No, they did not really write Shia’s injury into the movie so much as one moment he inexplicably has on a cast. And yes, the final battle probably could have been better, but it takes these guys two to three weeks to put five seconds of giant robots battling, on film. I totally understand. The CGI was amazing; the movie was loaded with great action... I say, check it out.

Now, I’ll talk a little bit about inspiration. My baby sister flew to Ohio last week to take part in an internship. I couldn’t be more proud of her. She inspires me to be better, and while thinking about that, I decided to mention in my blog two others who have inspired me... In the ways of love, I guess. Stand up, Tasha and Tony.

Sometimes I think the hardest thing about love is knowing when you’ve got it. Knowing that you’re grasping to the real thing. I appreciate Tasha and Tony for showing me that in its entirety. Of course these two are not the only happily married couple that I know, but they are the only one I’ve had the privilege to see grow into love together. My auntie and uncle were married before I was born, and I’ve only known my pastor and his wife for about seven or eight years (and even then they were married before I was born). Truth is... Before Tasha and Tony I had never seen a couple fall into true love before. Crazy right?! I know, I’m kind of amazed myself. Anyhow, they’ve shown me what to look for in a relationship, and for that, I can’t thank them enough. Thanks you two.

I’m not sure if my writing is as tight within this blog as I would like it to be, but it’s kind of late, and I’m a little tired, so just back off and give me a break. Stay tuned... :-)

Final thought: If you ever have the chance to see love happen... Pay close attention.

~Brandon Sean

My First Third, First Blog... Huh..?

Here we go... This will officially be my third blog, but in a sense it is really my first. My actual first, I intended to play as an introduction to myself. The second was meant to seek support for a film project I am currently helming (Dating and Courtship). The third and current, will represent my attempt to fade my personal opinion and thoughts into my trademarked writing. That’s right!

For example, I am a lover of words. They intrigue me. One of my all time favorite words is refrigerator, and it’s not because I’m a fat kid at heart. Mostly it has to do with the way the word refrigerator sounds (Go ahead, say it aloud, I’ll wait... See? Weird isn’t it..? Okay, fine, perhaps I exaggerate... A little.), but a great deal of it has to do with the fact that the word “fridge” contains a “d”. Why is this? I mean, what kind of rule is that, y’know? I’m just saying...

Also... I attempt comedy. I’ve never performed a set onstage (maybe one day it’ll happen), but I’m constantly listening to comedians and trying to master that particular craft. So from time to time you may read a blog about random things I find funny: spoiled milk; nose pickers; hairy soap; mayonnaise; mail-order brides; silent movies; petting zoos; and prosthetic limbs. All of these things amuse me. Or I may just write in a joke or random quotes from one of my sets.

“Everybody tries to be thugged out now-a-days. Even my dog is thugged out. He’s a Labrador Retriever, but he tells everyone he’s a Rottweiler.” – Brandon Sean

Even if you didn’t laugh that is technically funny for three reasons. One, the word Rottweiler is naturally a humorous sounding word, much like refrigerator. Also funny is the thought that there is a thugged out version of a dog at all, and that that thugged out version is a Rottweiler. Finally, is the notion that my dog can even talk to people. Which it can’t, because I don’t own a dog. If I did own a dog however, it would be a Rottweiler and I would train it to speak the English language. Or at least say the word refrigerator.

Yesterday evening I got together with the film crew: Patrick, Chris, and Rich... As well as Nicole, and we filmed another 30-second promo for Old Spice, which I will not be starring in (had a great time nonetheless). Chris and I also completed the filming or our “Klondike Bar” sketch. But this is the reason I mention last night... Patrick has written a rough draft for a feature length script he is hoping to develop. I will be portraying one of the lead roles (because I am such a great actor). No... I’m a thespian (great word). Anyhow, the first six pages read great. I won’t drop the name of the film on my blog here due to my deep respect for Patrick, but be on the lookout for that in 2016. Lol...

Final thought: Why doesn’t the word “refrigerator” contain a “d”..? Crap!!!
~Brandon Sean

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chldprdgy720.blogspot.com/2009/06/my-first-third-first-blog-huh.html' title='My First Third, First Blog... This means precisely one thing to me... As a student who will be scheduled to graduate in the year 2013 at the age of twenty-seven, I have little time to waste...

Correction!!! I have absolutely NO TIME TO WASTE. For this reason: I have made plans; written them down; and started a quest to make those plans a reality. Ah, but alas, I realize I can not do it alone. So... any film students; or art students in general, who would like to become involved in the creation of a web comedy series, I could sure use the help. If interested, send me an email or a message on Facebook, and I will in turn send you a PDF file of the Pilot episode I have written (It’s about nine pages). I’d love to get input and ideas from those passionate about the art of film.

Now that that is out of the way... I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the recent graduates, and more especially those who will be joining me at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts this Fall. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in September. I wish you all the best of luck in the journeys you will soon embark on.

Back to me... I recently filmed an Old Spice commercial with my good friend and independent director, Patrick Prejusa. It’s entitled Residue Evil: Part I. I’ve already posted a link on my Facebook page, but I’d like to post a link here as well for all of those who may not have seen it.

http://www.poptent.net/media/11699#c=1/0/0

Also, I am currently working on a short skit entitled, “Baby Doll’s Revenge”, for a scholarship I read about. Wish me luck on that, because college is an absolute chore to pay for. I’ve been offered little financial aid outside of loans, and I’m not able to save as much as I would like to; due to my ever incumbent rent payment. Oh well, the large price I pay is a small price to pay to follow my dreams.

Also, after a little over three years of living alone (minus this last year where my father has crashed with me... MOOCHER. LOL...), in less than three months I will move back in with my mother, where I will be the moocher. Which begs the question, aint life grand?!! I’m so thrilled... Of course that last statement wasn’t true, but it sounded good, right? Right..? Pray for me yall...

Final thought: Don’t waste time waiting for opportunity to knock on your door. Knock on his.

~Brandon Sean

Pilot

First off, I should probably introduce myself... My name is Brandon Sean White, and I was born on July 20, 1985 during the hottest summer ever recorded in the history of North Carolina. Of course that last statement is not true, but it sounded pretty good...

Now... Instead of mentioning the names of my mother and father, I’ll jump right into why I decided to create this blog. It’s actually very simple... I have no life. And I felt people deserved the opportunity to read about the life that I do not have...

Or, I felt it would be a good writing exercise for myself. As an aspiring filmmaker and screenwriter, setting time out to update the public to my on goings could be quite beneficial to my writing skills and ultimately my future. And if not, at least it won’t be detrimental to it.

Recently I was accepted into the filmmaking program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In my preparation for the upcoming 2009 school year, I have decided to make some changes.

One. From now on, I will rarely wear jeans and T-shirts; my daily attire will consist of Khakis/dress pants and buttoned shirts. There are a few reasons for this... One is merely my desire to attract the right kind of women. Another, and the main reason behind this decision however, rests on my aspirations to look professional the majority of the time. I read once or heard commentary, on how Alfred Hitchcock would always wear a suit and tie on set, and while he also wore sneakers; which frankly I think looks a little tacky, I like the idea behind it. The way you dress and present yourself automatically extracts a reaction from others, be it good or bad. Most people without realizing it take me more seriously. I like to be taken serious...

Two. This one is hard, but I will no longer take naps during the day. When I wake up; which is normally around 6am during the week and 10am on the weekends, I will stay awake until at least 9pm. I miss out on way too many opportunities sleeping unnecessarily. It’ll give me more time to work on my scripts, read, and whatever else needs my attention.

I hope those who have read this blog, have enjoyed it, and will continue to read my blogs in the future.

Final thought: Every goal I set for myself is achievable, but I must be willing to do what it takes to achieve them.

~Brandon Sean
